PEUGEOT 304 CABRIOLETS : J

JAC 1D (?)

NO DETAILS

I could use some help here please! I have one image of a yellow 304 Cabriolet with what appears to be the number plate JAC 1D, but nothing appears when searching the databases for that registration. Can anyone shine a light on this? Thx.

JAD 895N

1975

METALLIC BEIGE

S VERSION

MOT : 2019 PASS

TAX : 2022

JAD went through Richard Edmunds Auctions in 2015/2016. Searches bring up three results - unsold, sold for £1700, and sold for £3000. I'm 99% sure that a £3000 2016 sale was the final outcome. Described as good overall condition and on the road since.

JAF 543N

1975

ALASKAN WHITE

S VERSION

MOT : 2016 PASS

TAX : 2021

When JAF sold on Ebay back in 2011, the seller described the car as in excellent condition and having had a full documented restoration in 1993. The winning bid was £4100 - just a shade more than the quoted restoration cost.

JBB 920K

1972

METALLIC GREY

PRE-S VERSION

MOT : 2017 PASS

TAX : 2018

Another of the rarer Pre-S 304 Cabriolets, JBB sold for £3200 in 2015 after remedial welding work gained it a new MOT. The purchaser successfully drove the car from Canterbury home to Cambridge, and in 2017 described it as running well with some body work still to do.

JCJ 522N

1974

METALLIC BIEGE

S VERSION

MOT : NO RECORDS

TAX : 1989

First registered in Germany, JCJ is RHD and was imported to the UK in 1975. It changed hands in 2017 (with plenty of spares) by which time it had been garaged for over 25 years. Both seller & buyer described the car to me in great detail, and a fair summary for this entry is 'restoration in progress'.

JEC 539N

1975

BLUE (non standard)

S VERSION

MOT : 2017 PASS

TAX : 2021

JEC is a handsome 304 Cabriolet. It sold through H&H Auctions for a seemingly modest £1850 in June 2000. They listed it as 'Metallic Blue' and having been restored by a previous owner. They also called it 'an ideal starter classic' -cheek!

JFH 139K

1972

GREEN (TBC)

PRE-S VERSION (TBC)

MOT : NO RECORDS

TAX : 1987

I was approached by the owner of JFH in 2020, advising that it was available for purchase as a restoration project. I haven't received a reply to my request for further information, so regrettably no nothing more at present.

JGE 478L

1973

METALLIC SILVER

S VERSION

MOT : NO RECORDS

TAX : 1988

Well, I'm not sure if this should be in the survivors section or not but here it is. It will need a very dedicated new owner if it is to have a future. JGE was described as a barn find - with no paperwork and most of the engine in bits in the boot - when advertised on Ebay in January 2019.

JKU 867P

1975

MOSS GREEN

S VERSION

MOT : 2013 PASS

TAX : SORN

I'm told JKU 867P had been spotted regularly in the Derby area, but this is the only picture I've been sent of it. Here it is on the road in 2013, shortly before it's MOT expired. No other information is available.

JLB 247N

1975

METALLIC GREEN

S VERSION

MOT : 2016 PASS

TAX : 2015

JLB was advertised for around £2500 (including hard top) on Car & Classic in 2013, and again for £3750 in 2016. Both listings describe a basically sound car in need of improving, including the need for a new soft top and new seats.

JMA 168K

1972

RED (TBC)

S VERSION (TBC)

MOT : NO RECORDS

TAX : 2002

JMA was recorded as a red 304 Cabriolet with black interior selling for £2025 with H & H auctions in April 2003. It seems to have been off road ever since. Scrapped or still alive? If you have info about it, get in touch!

JMG 876N

1975

AZURE BLUE

S VERSION

MOT : 2017 PASS

TAX : 2021

An off road purchase for just £650 in 2012, this lucky pug has undergone loving restoration. It's original engine has been removed and rebuilt, with body and interior work ongoing.

HWL 680N (scrapped) was used as a donor for parts to give JMG a future.

JMW 630P

1975

AZURE BLUE

S VERSION

MOT : NO RECORDS

TAX : SORN

Auctioned through Busbys in 2016 with a sale price of £2400, JMW was described as 'partially restored and needs finishing'. Some restoration and a respray had been done by the seller, who acquired the car in 2002. The new owner has been in touch and planned to finish the restoration.

JPC 368N

1975

AZURE BLUE

S VERSION

MOT : 2017 PASS

TAX : 2021

JPC appears to be on the road again after a few years laid up. A former owner tells me that back in the 1980s he sold this Cabriolet by letting his brother drive it to London and park it round the back of Harrods one Saturday morning. He says it sold for cash in 20 minutes!

JPD 911N

1975

METALLIC GREY

S VERSION

MOT : 2017 PASS

TAX : 2022

Advertised on Car & Classic in 2015 for £8500, the asking price suggests this 304 was in tip top condition. Or maybe the registration plate would be attractive to Porsche 911 owners :). The seller described the colour as 'pearl silver', but I've classified this one as Metallic Grey (rightly or wrongly).

JRO 750N

1975

MOSS GREEN

S VERSION

MOT : 2021 PASS

TAX : 2022

A gorgeous 304S in Moss Green, with tan interior as it would have been when first produced. Sold for £4500 in 2013, and around £5000 in 2020 - rather modest prices for such a fine looking car with an exceptionally good MOT history. They don't come much better than this.

JUJ 711N

1975

METALLIC BEIGE

S VERSION

MOT : NO RECORDS

TAX : 2006

Another 304 Cabriolet on the endangered list. JUJ sold (with an additional donor car) for £1150 through H&H Auctions in 2013, and again in similar state for £700 via Ebay in 2015. It had been off road for several years and significant work was said to be needed, including a new sub frame.

JWJ 723J

1971

METALLIC GREEN

PRE-S VERSION

MOT : NO RECORDS

TAX : 2006

These period images are all I have for this  1971 Pre-S version 304 in Metallic Green, which seems to have been off road since around 2007. If you know where it is now, please get in touch.
